I’ve known about crisps made from vegetables for a while but not actually tried them. Yesterday I came across beetroot crips called Snapz, I took a photo of the packet (on left, click to enlarge) using the camera on my mobile phone so you can see what they look like.

Crisps are generally not very healthy, so are Snapz as tasty as normal crisps but also much more healthy for you?

Taste
Personally it didn’t tickle my taste buds at all. The first one was ok, a bit weird, the whole idea of a beetroot crisp still not clear in my head! So I had a few more and the taste got worse to be honest, quite an earthy taste. I don’t really like beetroot anyway so I wasn’t expecting to like them.

Other Sorts
You can also buy Parsnip crisps and Carrot & Paprika. To me they sound even worse than Beetroot so I don’t think I’ll be trying them. I’m sure lots more sorts are either; already available or will become available.

Are They Healthy?
The back of the packet says: not fried, not baked, fat-free, no added sugar, no added salt, non-gmo products and no artifical flavours/colours. As they say they really are 100% natural. They also say they are a good source of fibre and count to your 1 of your 5 a day. The guideline daily amount reads: Calories: 2.6%, Sugars (natural) 11.5%, Fat (natural) 0.03%, Saturates 0%, Salt 3.2%. Based on all of that information I have to conclude they are definitely good for you.

Recommendation
I’m not a big vegetable fan anyway so really it was highly unlikely I was going to like these crisps. But if you are a fan of your veg I recommend you try them out because you may love them. And they are 1 of your 5 a day

Availability
Snapz are available in the UK to buy from some supermarkets, this multipack was purchased from Sainsburys for £1.49, you get 5 x20g packs per multipack. I’m not sure about availability in other regions. You can also read about them on the Snapz website.

Yesterday morning the door knocks, I open it and the postman hands me a heavy parcel with Amazon logo's all over it. It can only be one thing. The new 'Jamie At Home: Cook Your Way To The Good Life' book by Jamie Oliver.

This article titled ‘Jamie At Home’ Recipe Book Review was first published on the lifestyle tips website Multivitamin.co.uk.

Yesterday morning the new Jamie At Home: Cook Your Way To The Good Life book by Jamie Oliver arrived, I ordered the book from Amazon for <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.co.uk%2FJamie-Home-Cook-Your-Good%2Fdp%2F0718152433%3Fie%3DUTF8%26n%3D266239%26s%3Dbooks&tag=multivitamin-21&linkCode=ur2&camp=1634&creative=6738"rel="nofollow" target="_blank">£12.50 plus £2.75 for postage, it is normally £25.00 but they currently have it available for half price!

I’ve watched the majority of the ‘Jamie At Home’ TV series on Channel 4 and it is enjoyable to watch even if you don’t intend to take action in the kitchen. I quite fancied having a go at some of the dishes so buying the book seemed like a good idea.

So far I’ve only read the opening few pages. Jamie first dedicates the book to Steve Irwin and then starts with ‘a nice little chat’ (this is what the chapter is actually called). The little chat is only two pages long, he jokes about his wife accusing him of an affair, because he is nipping out of the house for an hour here, an hour there and coming back looking refreshed, rosy-cheeked and guilty – really all he has done is fallen in love with his garden! Although it’s a cook book I think this sets the tone nicely for the book.

The content is then broken down into 4 chapters for the 4 seasons, to give you an idea of when each kind of produce is ready to eat. The whole book is beautifully presented with great photos, not just of food but also of himself, friends and surrounding scenery. The recipes I’ve read seem easy to follow and look damn tasty as well, there is over 400 pages (not sure how many recipes) so plenty to cook. The book is also a solid hardbook so won’t damage easily if chucked around the kitchen.

I liked Jamie Oliver before this new book and TV series, all this book has done is further enhance my opinion on him and hopefully I can be tasting the same great tastes he enjoys every day!

If you want to buy the book you can currently get it from <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.co.uk%2FJamie-Home-Cook-Your-Good%2Fdp%2F0718152433%3Fie%3DUTF8%26n%3D266239%26s%3Dbooks&tag=multivitamin-21&linkCode=ur2&camp=1634&creative=6738"rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Amazon.co.uk for £12.50 plus £2.75 for postage.
