‘Jamie At Home’ Recipe Book Review

Posted by: Chris   Published in: All Posts, Books, Food, Product Reviews

Jamie At Home Book CoverYesterday morning the door knocks, I open it and the postman hands me a heavy parcel with Amazon logo’s all over it. It can only be one thing. The new ‘Jamie At Home: Cook Your Way To The Good Life’ book by Jamie Oliver.

I’ve watched the majority of the ‘Jamie At Home’ TV series and it is enjoyable just to watch, even if you don’t intend to take action in the kitchen. I did want to take action so thought the book would be a sound investment. I bought it new from Amazon for £12.50 + £2.75 shipping, it is normally £25.00 but they currently have it available for half price!

So far I’ve only read the opening few pages. Jamie first dedicates the book to Steve Irwin and then starts with ‘a nice little chat’ (this is what the chapter is actually called). The little chat is only two pages long, he jokes about his wife accusing him of an affair, because he is nipping out of the house for an hour here, an hour there and coming back looking refreshed, rosy-cheeked and guilty - really all he has done is fallen in love with his garden! Although it’s a cook book I think this sets the tone nicely for the book.

The content is then broken down into 4 chapters for the 4 seasons, to give you an idea of when each kind of produce is ready to eat. The whole book is beautifully presented with great photos (not just of the food) and a range of colours used throughout the book. The recipes I’ve read seem easy to follow and look damn tasty as well, there is over 400 pages (not sure how many recipes) so plenty to cook. The book is also a solid hardbook so won’t damage easily if chucked around the kitchen.

I liked Jamie Oliver before this new book and TV series, all this book has done is further enhance my opinion on him and hopefully I can be tasting the same great tastes he enjoys every day!

If you want to buy the book you can get it from Amazon.co.uk for £12.50 + £2.75 shipping.

That will be a very good book. I like the way he put things and doesn’t make things conceptual or complicated.

Great that you have bought this book. I should look for it at the book store as well.
